Cardline Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 5, 2026
Cardline is a business-card scanner and contact organizer. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.
Summary
Cardline is a local-only app. It does not have user accounts, does not send your data to any server, and does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Everything you scan and save lives on your device.
What the App Stores
Cardline stores the following on your device only:
- Contacts you create or scan, including name, title, company, email, phone, website, social handles, notes, follow-up reminders, and the event, venue, or date associated with the contact.
- Card photos, which are resized and saved to the app's private storage on your device when you scan a business card.
- Your "My Card" profile, which contains the contact details you choose to share.
- App settings, including preferences such as follow-up timing and export format.
This data is held in a local SQLite database and the app's private file storage. It is not synced to any cloud service by Cardline.
What the App Does Not Do
- No user accounts. No login. No password.
- No analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting SDK.
- No advertising. No tracking across other apps or websites.
- No data is transmitted to the developer or any third party by the app.
Permissions the App Requests
- Camera: required to take a photo of a business card so the app can read its contents.
- Contacts: optional. Only requested if you turn on "Save scans to Phone Contacts" in Settings. When enabled, Cardline writes new scans into your device's Contacts app so they appear alongside your other contacts. You can turn this off at any time.
On-Device Card Reading
Card text recognition is performed on your device using Apple's built-in Vision framework. The image is not uploaded anywhere for processing.
Sharing Features
When you choose to share a contact, your "My Card" details, or an export of your data, the share happens through your device's standard sharing sheet, such as Messages, Mail, or AirDrop. You decide where the data goes; Cardline does not transmit it on your behalf.
How to Delete Your Data
You are in control of your data:
- Delete a single contact: open the contact and tap Delete.
- Delete all scanned card images: Settings -> Data & Privacy -> Delete scanned images.
- Delete all contacts: Settings -> Data & Privacy -> Delete all contacts.
- Delete everything: uninstall the app. All Cardline data on the device is removed.
If you previously enabled "Save scans to Phone Contacts", contacts written into your system Contacts app are managed there and are not removed by deleting Cardline contacts or uninstalling Cardline.
Children
Cardline is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at the same URL and the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.
